Once upon a time there was a lady who lived in a shack. There was only one room...an everything room.It had one window and two doors-a front door and a back door.Inside the lady had all she needed, logs for the fire, food in the fridge,a comfy settee to sit on and a comfy bed to sleep in.
One night a man knocked on the door, “sorry to bother you but I've run out of logs, could I borrow some of yours till morning please?” “Of course” said the lady and told him to take as many as he needed.
The next day a lady knocked, “Do you think I could have some food-my aunt arrived unexpectedly and I've nothing in” “Certainly” said the lady and gave her two shopping bags full.
That evening the man who had borrowed the logs came back in his van with twice the number of logs he had borrowed. He stacked them by her back door and left because it was late and he didn't want to disturb her.
Early next morning a charity collector knocked on the door. “Excuse me, but we're collecting bedding for the homeless, do you have any spare?” “Of course” said the lady and gave her the spare set.
As she was up early she decided to wash her own bedding. She had just finished when it began to rain, “Oh no” she said, “I hope the rain stops soon or I'll not get my bedding dry” It carried on raining all day.It rained so hard that when the lady who had borrowed the food came back she couldn't get an answer to her knock. So she put the three bags of food she brought in the shelter of the wood pile and hurried home.
That night the lady sat on her settee feeling very sad.She was cold because she had run out of logs, hungry because there was no food left and tired because her bedding was still wet so she couldn't go to bed!

After a miserable night she woke up to a lovely sunny day and went to hang out her washing. When she went out of her back door she noticed the big pile of logs and she smiled.Looking a little closer she saw the three bags of food.Laughing she went inside and called the log man and the food lady to come and share in her very big breakfast!
Ending 2
She sat and shivered all night. The next day she went to the shops and bought food and bedding and an electric fire.As she never used her back door she never saw the log pile or the bags of food so she decided never to give anything away again and became a bitter old lady.
