The story of life hasn’t changed one bit since the beginning of time. Solomon stated it best in Ecc 1:9 “…and there is no new thing under the sun.” This statement has been proven over and over again, yet men continue to believe and seek out the false promises of the world we live in.
Glitz and glamour are used to hype whatever claim is being made. Become a millionaire selling real estate as the Hawaii Islands backdrop lures the unsuspecting to buy their unbeatable how to book. The beckoning call of, “you have to play to win” accompanies the sale of lottery tickets with million dollar prizes. Get out of debt; apply now for a loan or another credit card.
Youthfulness will be yours forever if only you buy this cream or that vitamin supplement or have this surgery. The girl telling you about these wondrous products has never had a wrinkle in her life. Health and happiness are only a phone call away according to exercise equipment sales people or miracle weight loss pill pushers. You too can look like the underweight model holding that bottle of pills.
True love can be yours, just dial up our singles dating line you’ll instantly turn into the beautiful, svelte, outgoing person featured in the ad. Within weeks you’ll walk down the aisle a thoroughly contented person.
This world promises the best of everything to everybody without exception. Then when the claims fall short people act as if they had no idea that someone could lie to them about the effectiveness of whatever they were trying to sell.
Satan has a firm hold on this world and he lures the unsuspecting every day. His wiles even catch those who know better. What promise of his have you latched onto lately?
There is only one sure thing available in this world and that is God’s love. It is the only promise that has never been nor ever will be broken. The creator of heaven and earth guaranteed you eternal life with Him in heaven when you accept the fact that Christ, His Son, lived, died and rose from the grave to pay for your sin.
You can take that promise and build your entire life around it. You can stand on it and proclaim it from the rooftops and be assured it’s true, it’s for you and for anyone who cares to hear. God is the only one who doesn’t mislead. He is the only one who doesn’t lie about the effectiveness of His product.
His Son’s blood paid the entire price for our sin. There isn’t anything more you can do to earn it other than accept the gift He sent. His promises will bring satisfaction into your life and a joy in your soul that promises on this earth couldn’t match in a billion years.
When we see Him face to face His sparkle and shine will be so overpowering that what we called glitz and glamour here will look like the mud it really was. I Corinthians 2:9 tells us…”eye hath not seen, nor ear heard…” The promises God has will always be kept and He doesn’t need a slick tongued salesman to sell what He has to offer.
