On quest to find a girl whose price
Was far above the going rates
For mates, or simple dinner dates.
She must be very sweet and kind
And have an understanding mind
Soft of shape and heart of gold
A friend to share, a love to hold.
To find romance, he took a chance
On line he went
To Love-Match-Set
A treasure hunt, the inter-net.
So many girls, so little time
Perusing scores while in his prime
Each one better than the last
It blew his fuse, but what a blast!
The seeking game consumed his brain
Looking for that part t’was missing
He wanted more than hugs and kissing
Where did all the good ones hide?
Where is, he cried, my special bride?
The one soul mate of God’s own choosing
He could not find with all this cruising.
The more he read the more his dread
There was no way to choose, instead
He took a break to clear his head
And that’s when things began to change…
How strange!
One day, computer-dell did ring his bell
What inbox held, he could not tell
Until he opened up the note
And read what lovely female wrote.
Dear Sir, it said, I must insist
You do not think I‘m from a list
Of women looking for some male
With money, looks, or grad of Yale.
Urged by friend to check the line-up
I was inclined to skip the sign-up
Zipping through one hundred cases
Shocked, I found one of those faces that
Stopped me cold (I feel so bold)
But there you were, with twinkling smile
I read your file – this is not my usual style,
This searching high and low for men,
Praying for a sure fire win
Yet, you have a certain look, so good and wise,
So if you can, please, please advise.
The sun was shining in his heart
Responding to this one, so smart
She saw in him that special gleam
He surely wants her on his team
Back and forth for months e-mailing
On loving waters words were sailing
Docking in their hearts each day
There were no thoughts to stay away.
A man who searched for spouse in vain
Was now aboard the love-sick train
Wending toward this Godly Miss
Intending for their wedded bliss
In hot pursuit of what he wanted
He would have soldiered on, undaunted
A hunter for the perfect plan, He finally got his chance
To dance the dance of pure romance
But in the end though on a whim
It was SHE who captured HIM.
