Five pies were a cause of rejoicing, for me, this Thanksgiving - for they were prepared by my mother's hands. Mom is getting along in years but with the help of computer enlarged recipes, she still makes the "best" pies.
No matter, this year, that the computer font was 20 for the recipe and she still missed putting in the salt for two of the pumpkin pies.....No matter, that after she had put the pecan pie in the oven, she discovered she had forgot to put in the butter she had melted.....No matter, that when she restirred the pecan pie ingredients and added the butter and baked the pie, the crust bottom split and the filling leaked through.
No matter.....the pies "were" delicious. This fact, alone, was cause for, both, my mother and I to rejoice. But.....for me, what "really" mattered was that I had my dear mother for another Thanksgiving and I rejoiced.
By the way, Mom is planning, the Lord willing, to prepare "all" of Christmas dinner and, of course, she will have help..... and no matter, I will be rejoicing!
