Like those many wretched souls;
And I have nothing within to offer,
Like a long-lost degraded brother.
I have gifts, but only for this age,
I’m no wise or knowledgeable sage;
No god could find a need for me,
I am only worthy for the sea.
But I am seeing with earthly eyes,
The Lord is my own richly prize;
While I see my self as a pauper,
I am standing on my Father's coffer.
I am forever complete in Him,
Once He took all my sin;
I have access to heaven's gold vein;
And eternal riches became my gain.
It would've been more than sufficient,
To have alone the heavenly ferment;
For this is where my Lord God dwells,
With His love of joyful swells.
But He is one to keep on giving,
As His breath has kept me living;
Forever am I indebted to Him,
My heart is His, as I have given.
Forgive me, Lord, for my worm’s eye view,
Your good Word has shown You true;
I have heaven at my reach,
With Your will for me to beseech.
