My other goal had been to become a stay-at-home mom. However, my son arrived sooner than later, so I attained my goals in reverse. Incidentally, because of the reversal I needed to supplement the loss of my income to help provide for my new blessing with a part-time job.
My husband had just graduated college himself and had not been making enough money to off-set our new expenses at the time.
So, I went to the best employment agency I could find, my Heavenly father. I told Him my needs, which He already knew, and during the span of twelve years God provided me with a slew of jobs that afforded me the extra money I needed, as well as trained me to be the writer I’d originally hoped to become.
Ironically, I hadn’t even realized it until the day I decided to update my resume and re-enter the full-time work force.
The first part-time job that God provided for me had been as a typist for an insurance company working from my home. When my son became a little older I ventured outside of my home a few evenings a week and worked as a receptionist in a gym.
Not long after that I felt led to become a fitness trainer instead. I had been an exercise instructor during High School, therefore, I decided to get re-certified. Unfortunately, the gym had no openings for a fitness trainer, but God had a better opening for me elsewhere.
One day a woman called the gym and asked if I would be willing to fitness train in her home. She didn’t even mind if I brought my children; I had two by this time. That job worked out well for quite awhile and provided me with more money, which of course I needed now that I had two children.
After a good span of time I eventually gave the job up because I became ill and needed a break. However, God did not abandon me. I sat praying one day and wondered where He’d planned to lead me next and my phone rang.
A friend of mine worked for a production company that produced videos for a celebrity, fitness trainer and needed someone to work as a staff writer on her website. The pay was right and the place perfect.
I worked from my computer at home using my writing skills in conjunction with my fitness training experience. Little did I know I’d be using my experience as a Christian as well.
Everyday multitudes of letters from desperate women filled my in-box seeking my advice. While many of the letters pertained to the removal of love handles, saddle bags and flabby arms, amazingly the majority of the questions were from women seeking spiritual advice.
This job gave me insight to the minds and hearts of women all over the world. The Lord provided many part-time jobs for me during these years, too many to list. He even paid me for singing, which is another one of my passions.
I looked at that job as a special bonus from my employer, not that I deserved one, but He’s a great boss.I’d have done it for free.
Preparing my resume´ I became concerned a potential employer might think of me as a job-jumper or unsure of my direction in the work force because of the many different job titles I held.
Who knows, maybe the fact that I’ve always had the same employer, "God" would work in my favor. I’d also worried that having no degree would work against me as well.
I never did graduate from an accredited college, but I did get an education and have graduated to a new level of writing.
I’m still a full-time mom. But God has provided my husband with a position that no longer requires me to work part-time for a salary. Needless to say, I have no plans to retire. I will always write. Therefore, I will always work, and I will continue to work for Him.
And the payment I receive has long been paid for in advance. In actuality, after looking over my resume, although quite diverse, it is consistent, and in my opinion it is a resume´ that has been fit for a King.
