Life has been a series of stages that fit perfectly fine at one point in time, but are soon outgrown. I have realized that when one stage is outgrown, I graduate into another stage. Some of the stages included; childhood, early adult, raising children, and deciding to enter the workplace. Entering the workplace was a very stressful stage for me, since all I was trained to do was make beds, change diapers, and bake cookies (The cookies proved to be EXTREMELY difficult to stay out of!).
With my children grown, and after years of unsatisfying jobs, I happened to look in the mirror one day, to see a grandmother staring back at me. An unfulfilled grandmother! Now, with fewer years ahead of me than behind me……it was time for the next stage.
“Lord, what do YOU want me to do?” I asked. But, since I am not always able to hear God’s directions clearly, I continued the prayer with; “Please open the door where you want me, and close the doors where you don’t want me.”
Fast-forward two and a half years, and here I am now. I have graduated from college, and right into another stage! This stage is exciting. It includes becoming a Court appointed Representative for abused children. This new stage also includes something very unexpected…..I am a Christian Writer. Several of my short stories have been published! This might not come as such a surprise to people that have enjoyed writing most of their lives, but I never wrote anything, until college classes Comp I and II.
Final graduation is not over until life is over. Graduation just means that we are going into another stage of life!
