Topic: FRESH START (01/05/17)
The swelling tide of memory, the tension of struggling tears which seek an outlet,
Are intermingling within this melancholy day, which weeps in monotonous despair, I long for the music of His delicious voice; Alas, the vacant fields remain unresponsive.

The wheels in my mind are turning in the same desolate groove.
How can I escape this cold, glittering topping, that engulfs me like frosting on a cake?
Only His hand can unlock these chains in which I’m bound so helplessly.

I am but a leaf, swirling about in an autumn’s wind,
Not knowing where I shall land, or the impact of which I’ll be subject to when I do.
Tossed about so swiftly, as I fly with the breeze I find myself crumbling as I do.

Soon, I shall be as a pile of dead leaves, lying amidst the dirt on the ground.
I long to be totally devoid of any sensation or emotion,
The satire of worldly events cut me asunder, searing my soul as a knife.

I feel threatened, as if I have a dark and relentless fate.
Look at me, behold, a disheveled and distraught figure watching events explode.
I’m full of barren regrets and a haunting sense of insecurity.

Lord, help me still this sickening feeling within my heart,
Let me fade into insignificance; or electrify me into a whirlwind of activity.
But, above all else, erase the searing brand of the world’s infidelity within my soul.

As I climb from the valley, suffocation lends way to a cleansing breath of life,
The stunning light chases the shadows away, and darkness is no more.
His perfect love consumes my soul, and in its wake tranquility pours forth.

Ever faithful, pure in countenance, His mercy endures,
Overpowering the world, He conquers death, salvation restored.
Promises fulfilled, throughout the ages, Precious Savior, forevermore.

You've really captured the sorrow and profound despair many dear folks live with in the first half of your piece. Wonderfully, there's more to it. Our hope is in the Lord, Who will make all things new. Nicely done.

You've tossed about the contradictory feelings of one distraught or excited. These sentences..."Lord, help me still this sickening feeling within my heart,Let me fade into insignificance; or electrify me into a whirlwind of activity," reminded me of scripture that talked about being lukewarm, instead of hot or cold. How God dislikes it when we can't decide and toggle the fence in lukewarm attitudes, instead of getting on with our life. Excellent teaching piece! Thank you!
