So fresh, so newly created - and so terribly naïve. She hadn't listened to the wiser One Who warned all the newbies of the dangers of leaving the fold. Tender and sweetly unaware of lurking temptations cajoling her to escape her oh so comfortable nest and wind forsaken paths with The Others endlessly seeking to entrap her in their maze of discomfort and misery.
So young, so vulnerable - so unaware of life "outside the box", she willfully and wantonly turned from the only family she knew, proud, beautiful - and stubborn. "Life is meant to be lived," she maintained, blindly following her own reckless heart.
Yes - she was beautiful - a masterpiece. She was curvaceous, colorful and quite the catch. She had heard the whispers concerning how she was destined for greatness. But, her young and selfish heart believed her future belonged to herself alone - she was not to be molded into someone else's idealization.
But - she rapidly became bored with teasing The Others. Returning temptation with temptation - her innate sense of her own worth, her thoughts started a strange and exciting path toward her predetermined future. "Perhaps it will be as grand as 'they' proclaim?" With unfettered prideful mincing step, she turned back to her destiny. She would be petted, loved and most welcome, they eagerly anticipated her royal return.
Shocked to find no one clamoring for her attention and affection, she found they had turned their backs to her. No one sought to embrace her - to include her in their special little game of life. Push and shove as she might, she could neither budge nor plead for their welcome.
Battered and bruised - her head awhirl with the negativity of her positive worthiness, she sat back, soothed her roughed edges - and wept bitterly for the lost promise of grandeur for which she was created.
Sniffling, she sat back and pondered her course of action. She was strong - she could attempt to blaze a trail through their united backs to her. She might hurt one or two - but, her being so adorable - surely they would forgive her and love her once again?
Nothing would better - they became impatient with her when she approached them, suggesting that she would find her fame and fortune outside the group? Hungry for what she once took for granted, she forlornly turned from her former family and headed for the rim to the unknown and frightening realm of The Others, gazing back miserably to the forbidding team clucking and laughing and becoming the completeness they were designed to become.
Torn between the two impossible choices, she, being just a wee girl after all - plunked herself down and wept. "If only I hadn't been so prideful. so full of myself. Why couldn't I just quietly fit in, gain acceptance and find my rightful place in this now unforgiving world that only wants to reject me? Where do I belong? Will I ever fit in? Please - I need help. Please forgive me . . ."
Unexpectedly, a whisper of breath levitated her above the two worlds, affording her a view of what could have been - what should have been, and the danger awaiting her on The Others' side. She wafted delicately to her former friends, her once welcoming teammates, and saw that the team was not quite fully convened. There was a member missing, and it looked so unfulfilled without her, as she recognized her once prideful curvaceous shape conforming to that very spot. She was gently floated down, squealing with delight that at last she fitted in, truly belonged.
