Thank you for the abundance of life
that comes in many forms
Tangible miracles of newborn babes
The gift of health--in body, mind and spirit
Your daily provisions, sometimes seemingly inadequate
by my standards,
until my faith experiences spiritual growth
and I realize the decisive difference
between want and need
Thank you for the beauty that fills the earth
From velvety, delicate rose petals
to majestic snow-capped mountains
From bubbling, flowing creeks
to meandering lazy rivers
that cause one to close their eyes
and listen to the shushing movement
of patient waters that please the ear
and soothe the soul
So grateful for your unconditional
and never-ending love, am I
I trust in your promises
knowing that you are with me always
Should I utter “sorry” with a repentant heart
Forgiveness abounds from yours
When fear drapes my shoulders
like an old woman’s shawl
You supply me with courage to face each challenge
For the surplus of blessings
that have renewed my faith
time and again, I give you praise
For every answered prayer
that exceeded my expectations
I humbly bow before you
For closed windows that led
to open doors
I confess--experience is a good teacher
And most importantly, dear God
Thank you for the gift of your Son
Who has made it possible
for me and all believers
to enjoy the gift of salvation
Eternal life means the
best is yet to come
Eternity with you because
you went the extra mile for me
