Which give me strength to fly,
My feet are driven to the ground
No matter how hard I try;
My dreams are forced to soar alone
As I gaze at the sky.
But God has given girls a set
Of temporary wings;
I have a little window where
I taste what heaven brings,
Whenever I go to the park
And soar upon a swing!
Whenever I need a chance to fly
I take my Daddy’s hand;
We follow the trail of acorns
Wherever they might land
Until we find our secret haven
And whirl into our dance.
I love the chances that I get
To briefly touch the stars,
To bring back little pieces of
The dreams that seem so far—
These memories compose the wonder
Of my private little park:
The slides, the swings, the birds that sing,
Within my Daddy’s heart.
