"How about Biblical Literature?" Ruth suggested. "Start out easy, and then go to the hard stuff."
Abigail raised her eyebrows. "Easy? Have you been listening in class?"
"Kinda. I figure I've been to church my whole life, so it really can't be that hard."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah. Here. ask me anything."
Abigail smiled and lifted her eyebrows, grabbing a Bible and their textbook. "Okay. Question one. Who wrote the book of Galatians?"
"Jesus."
Abigail glanced sideways at her friend, trying to suppress a laugh. "Uh... Jesus as God, or Jesus as man?"
"Uh... both?"
"BZZZT! Wrong answer."
"God?"
"Uh... technically, yes. However, I don't think that's the answer Professor Wynn will be looking for. Want to give it one more try?"
"Let's see..." Ruth pondered. "Galatians... that sounds kind of like... Gideon?"
"Whoops. Wrong testament. It's Paul. A word of advice; if you're looking for the author of a book of the New Testament and it's not one of the Gospels, and doesn't say 'John,' guess Paul. He wrote thirteen books of the New Testament, which is exactly half."
"Wow. I guess I should have paid more attention in class. Give me another one, Abigail. Author's names have always confused me anyway."
"Okay. How many wise men were at the manger after Jesus was born?"
"Pffft. That one's too easy. Three," Ruth said confidently.
"Tisk tisk. Wrong again. On two accounts."
"What?" Ruth ripped the Bible away from Abigail. "Let me see that. What Bible are you reading anyway?"
Abigail pointed in triumph to the right verses. "Matthew 2:1 and Matthew 2:11."
Ruth read. "'Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem...' and verse 11... 'And when they were come into the house...'"
"See? It just says 'wise men.' It doesn’t give a number. We just assume it's three because of the three gifts. And then later is says they came to the house."
Ruth lay on the floor, dramatically placing her arm on her forehead. "Lies! It's all lies. My whole life I've been taught lies!"
Abigail laughed and hit Ruth with a pillow. "Stop it. Let's get back to studying, for real."
"Ask me another question; Old Testament, and no authors, okay?"
"Okay. Jonah was swallowed by what?"
"A whale."
"Whaaa, waaaa. Wrong answer again. The Bible says it was a 'great fish.'"
"Really?"
"Would I lie to you?"
"All this studying is making me hungry. How long have we been studying? Two hours?"
Abigail tapped her chin in thought. "Let's see... what sound effect should I make this time?"
"Well then how long as it been, Ms. Time Keeper Genius?"
"About fifteen minutes."
"What? Studying is so time-consuming."
"Yeah. Let's hit the books again."
"You know," Abigail said, "I really learned a lot about the Bible, after reviewing all our notes."
"So did I," Ruth said. "Studying may be time consuming, but at least studying the Bible is well worth it."
"Ding, ding, ding! Congratulations!"
"What?"
"You finally got a right answer."
And with that, Ruth chased Abigail out of the room, pillow in one hand, Bible in the other.

Author's note: This is a work of fiction, and "Ruth" is not really that ditzy.
