Hands clutched, she was urgently praying.
Her sobbing soft words God certainly heard,
And His answer was swift, no delaying.
You see her concern was that she had learned
Her best friend, Red Rover was missing.
Each day Faith awoke to her wet nosy poke,
But this morning she hadn’t come kissing.
Faith tried to stay calm, then called to her mom
Who aimed to diffuse her child’s worry,
But when you are eight, there’s no time to wait,
So in jammies barefooted she scurried.
Her girlish mind raced as she ran to “their” place
Then spied the green carpet below;
The cows looked lazy, summer’s dawn was hazy,
Red Rover, oh where did you go?
Then from the high hill where verdant grass spilled
Into Christopher Creek gaily flowing;
She spotted her dog at rest by a log,
And a fear in her heart began growing.
She called her dog’s name again and again,
But no movement below was occurring;
Down the green velvet hill, just like Jack ‘n Jill
She tumbled, eyes misting and blurring.
By Red Rover’s side, she smiled as she sighed--
New puppies were hungrily feeding;
She shouted her thanks, gone was her angst
As God gave her the peace she was needing.
I’ve come to the end of this tale my friend
But a lesson I hope to impart--
Give God all your woes, don’t ever suppose
He won’t hear what goes on in your heart.

What a tale you told in the most wonderful verse. The last verse brought me to tears.
