ADD TO MY FAVORITES
on Valentine’s Day
with a heart red and lacy,
a crimson display;
but its declarations of
love in poems and prose
can’t compare to my ardor
for my red-painted toes!
Delicate red roses
so lovely and fair
their sweet heady fragrance
wafts through the air;
but their loveliness fades
from my eyes and my nose
at the delicate beauty
of my rosy-red toes!
You may thrill at the sight
of a sleek red sports car
as it streaks down the highway
like a fiery meteor;
but a sight much more thrilling
sets my heart aglow,
gazing, oh so fondly,
at my red-lacquered toes!
The ring on your finger
might make your heart sing
studded with rubies and
sparkling red bling;
but its melody falters
to discordant notes
at the hummng and tapping
of my ruby-red toes!
You may enjoy sipping
a fine burgundy wine,
its deep reddish luster
tastes simply divine;
but its luster just pales
like a poor wilted rose
when I drink in the beauty
of my wine-red toes!
So keep your roses,
your wine and your hearts,
your glowing red rubies
and bright red sports cars;
of life’s frivolous pleasures
only one moves me so,
the beauty and glory
of my red-painted toes!
