Each of us must go
Through some Valley in our lives
Many fast, and others deadly slow
The bag we pack to make the trek
Shows how we’ll fare and take it
Attitude and fortitude
Are things that help us make it
Some can smile and hit a stride
With no plan to be defiant
The jolly part echoes outside
The Valley of some (ho-ho-ho) green giant
Others vague who think they’re hip
Are Valley girls who can’t surmise
There’s meaning to this earthly trip
But grasping not who lives or dies
From Death Valley, never nice
To Valley Forge or famous River Red
Or place so low he paid the price
As untrue love gave cause to over hang his head
The Valley of the dolls, we know
Is all about those pills
That alter minds, which goes to show
There’s other kinds of speed that kills
There’s Shenandoah ‘s Valley bright
And Ohio’s, famous as can be
With authority to charge for light
There's one in Tennessee
The Valley in Psalm twenty-three
Has such meaning to it
It’s only shadow of a death we see
And must not fear the walking through it
God’s rod and staff will comfort all
A bond we should not sever
He guides us through our Valley call
Then on to Dwell with Him forever.
So when it’s forth you have to sallie
As you head for life's important goal
God will bring you through your Valley
But ...it’s only HE who can restore your soul.
