As we share the bread and wine;
In these times of sweet surrender
Catch a glimpse of Heaven’s splendour—
Partakers of His life divine.
We recall His life-blood given,
In atonement for each soul,
Bloodied side by spear-point riven,
All HIs enemies forgiven—
Christ’s amazing work extol.
We recall His body broken,
Son of Man dead on a cross
Fulfilled all the Scripture’s spoken;
Bread we break now as a token—
His communion’s now with us.
Round the table gather weekly
Bow our heads before the Lord;
Moved in heart and spirit deeply
Fellowship reflects uniquely
Hearts attracted Heavenward.
In this time of fond remembrance
Worship Jesus in this place
Who in death paid all our sentence
And in rising gave us entrance,
Open door to wondrous grace.
Heaven is our expectation
Hope we cherish as we share
In the supper’s celebration;
It’s our constant affirmation
Till His coming in the air.
Our dear Saviour we remember
As we share the bread and wine;
In these times of sweet surrender
Catch a glimpse of Heaven’s splendour—
Partakers of His life divine.
