"Thank you for your beautiful creation. Being in this place truly revives my spirit. Taking in your creative diversity washes my soul. Seeing you in the midst of all of this life enlivens my spirit."
Javier leaned back to take it all in. The sounds of nature were a cacophony of noise that slowly, but inexorably morphed into a coordinated symphony. Like a trained musical maestro, Javier found himself able to identify each bird's call and track its movement through the trees and around the brush. The world was truly alive. The world originally created by God as good and which still contained vestiges of that perfection. Even at less than its best, this world of nature was sufficient to refresh Javier's spirit after a long, hard week of struggle and frustration.
"Give me ears that I may truly hear. Give me eyes that I may truly see. Give me courage that I may enter into all that you have prepared for me."
Javier closed his eyes as he shut out the noise of the world and sought for that inner light and love and direction that only came from above. He longed desperately for peace and rest. He desired a safe place. He wanted nothing more than to find a secure position in a world built on insecurity and want.
"I need you so much, God. I long to rest only in you. Help me to stop looking and truly believe that you are enough."
"Javier."
The intrusion was like a dagger cutting through pure light and peace. Javier's mind reeled as the outside world invaded his inner sanctum.
"Hello, Peter."
"I rang the doorbell in front a bunch of times, but there was no answer. What are you doing back here?"
"Resting."
"Must be nice. I just finished a ten-mile jog. I am going into the office to get ahead on some of my projects. What do you have on your agenda?"
"I'm doing it right now."
"All day?"
"As long as it takes."
"I don't understand you sometimes, Javier."
"I suppose that's true, but then I don't think that's the goal anyway."
"I suppose not. Catch you later."
Javier closed his eyes once Peter had left. The hectic pace of life was so very difficult to avoid. It so easily had the capacity to eat at your soul. Peter wasn't a bad guy; just doing what he knew. Javier was just as committed to doing the same in a different way.

Very well written. I could hear the sounds and sense the peace. It leaves me with a longing to put the computer away and go find my spot. Thank you!
