The question is, why do they do that? Could it be because unless a question is asked no answer will surface?
It seems that many "thinkers" think that if they conjure up some reasonable sounding possibilities that those possibilities can then become fact.
Today I received from Fox News Geek Sheet on my Yahoo account one such question, "Could Saturn's moon support alien life?"
How could anyone answer unless they knew alien anatomy and physical constitution? What does an alien need to stay alive?
The question of, "Could Saturn's moon support human life," might be something to talk about since we know what it takes for a human to survive.
This form of mental engagement, perhaps called hypothesizing, is often applied to even the most serious considerations of our life such as, death, and whether there is a God. Also, is there not some other path to God besides Jesus?
"Yes, yes, we know what Jesus said," they say, " but that is just not reasonable!"
It should be simple to answer those questions correctly, if only the subject material was known to those asking the questions.
Since it is not a known to those conversing, the opinions expressed are sometimes amusing, but more often horrifying, even blasphemous.
But before we excoriate the unbelievers, let us take a look at some of our Christian Theologians and Sunday School Teachers!
This hypothecation method is how we build our own God and think He is complete. It is how we set The Bible Buffet, and invite everyone to eat which ever thing they like, and just leave the rest of it alone.
We do not compare our hypotheses with any known information.
In a medical clinical laboratory the day does not begin until all the equipment, that will provide clinical results by which the physician will make determinations and diagnoses, has been calibrated by a "known value reagent."
Yet when it comes to the very life of our eternal souls we estimate and guesstimate and hypothesize.
Some people truly believe that there is no known information available by which they may test their theories.
It is not geeky to be ignorant of the validity of Scriptures.
Often I hesitate attending Sunday School classes because the overall attitude is that, "My strongly held opinion is offended by those Bible things you are saying."
Opinions are like noses, we all have one and it suits the face of its possessor, but they are all different. Different noses is fine, but different opinions of Biblically stated truth is not fine.
The Bible is the only document in print that foretells many things even thousands of years before it happens, and it happens exactly as the Bible predicted.
There are thousands of prophecies; many of them have been fulfilled already, many are being fulfilled today, and many are yet to be fulfilled.
I was an eight year old naysayer: we had no book except the Bible in my home in the high mountains of WV. I loved to read and so I read the Bible.
One day I was reading in The Revelation of Jesus Christ about the two witnesses that are a terror to the earth for a few years, and finally they are killed and lay in the streets of Jerusalem for three days. The Bible says that "The whole earth looks upon their dead bodies for three days." Revelation 11: 3-12
"How can that be true?" I was certain it must have some other meaning than what it was saying; but then, I had not seen a television at that time, I did not know they existed. Even so that would not fulfill the prophecy as it was written.
But here is the truth: John, as he wrote what he was told to write, did not either know how it could be true...but God knew satellites would be a normal thing before that time arrived.
Today we can see, in real time, everything happening all over the earth.
The Bible is filled with such "accurate statements" as this. It behooves those who want to exchange its message to something more palatable and modern, to read The Book and know what it says before forming opinions.
The Holy Bible is not supposition, it is "the known" by which we gauge truth.
