Darkness, cold, inside and out. Why do humans have guards? Do they believe they can stop the Master from returning from Abraham’s Bosom?
The Sabbath draws to a close. Two women make their way to the garden, laden with burial spices, “Mary, how are we going to move the stone from the tomb?”
“Perhaps the guards will help us.”
“But the stone has been sealed with Pilate’s ring. They can’t.”
Stillness fills the air but not their minds; death has claimed their Teacher, unable to comprehend the last few days, they’ve come to finish the burial process of their friend.
Yearning for sleep, the soldier’s puffy eyes strain to see the light of day and the change of guards.
Today’s the day my Creator said He would return. Many think I can keep Him in; yet I will shout at His return!
Darkness pierced by sunlight stirs to waking the next guards.
Time for me to move! A being dressed in fine, white linen commands the stone to open the tomb and to hold its peace.
“Mary, the ground is shaking!” Startled, they clutch their packages and stagger for balance.
Roman soldiers fall backward from the ground heaving, or is it the sight of the guarded stone breaking their seal, spewing forth light brighter than the breaking sun?
The King has returned with multitudes from Abraham’s bosom leading them to Paradise.
“Whom seek ye?” Upon hearing a voice a bewildered, crying woman turns back from looking into an empty tomb.
“If you have taken my Master’s body, please tell me where you have laid Him.”
“Mary.”
Her eyes fully opened, “Teacher,” rushing toward Him, arms outstretched.
“Touch Me not. I go to my Father and to your God. Go and tell the brethren I am risen.”
”Yes, oh yes. He’s alive!” The stone holds its peace…
