Emancipation from the womb marks a commemorative date.
Breathe deep virgin lungs, although purple is your color. Hear that
Rhythmic beat as your internal clock synchronizes-
Undoubtedly, you are created for such a time as this.
Attributed to God is the harvest of the seasons;
Rare and given feet like hinds' feet; you are seldom seen.
You leap and that's how you advance. Every
Triumphant step forward recovers four.
Who else in their journey can cheat years?
Even canines do it backwards; you are among a select few.
Notwithstanding the ordinary, the calendar officiates such claim.
Tenacity awaits its arrival since this statement seldom leaves your lips, "This
Year marks for me, a real birthday."
Never to see the 'golden' one; given
Instead, brevity of time in the midnight hour. A blink and it's gone.
Nicknamed 'Leapling' and rightly so.
Every four years is a giant step!
Inserted 'Extra' day,
So Christmas lands in winter
'stead of flower blooming May.
