The first of its kind,
The Color Mart claimed to sell
All colors to find.
I wondered what waited, was
Drawn to discover
The colors I’d overlooked,
Shades to uncover.
A rainbow of roses danced;
Songs sung a greeting;
But nothing could prepare me for
The store’s heart beating.
Found red jewels from Asia
That glistened with bliss,
But the color I hoped for
Was “Love’s Tinted Kiss.”
I tossed in sunny shades called
Monarch migration,
An orange burst of flurry,
A southern vacation.
I picked five golden heat rays
That drummed to the beat
Of tropical rain forests,
Taste lemony sweet.
What would I find on aisle nine?
Green valleys for sale,
Rolling hills sold with comfort,
And Irish old tales.
I found some shades hidden called
Wet Arctic ice blue;
Aurora Borealis cast
A heavenly hue.
My favorite new colors
Were Indigo lake,
Rocky mountain reflections,
Snow capped frosted cake.
Shelves were stocked with coral reef
Colors for miles;
The violet splashed sunsets
Stretched many smiles.
With my cart overflowing,
I needed to pay;
Would I have enough money?
What should I say?
When I saw the director,
I wanted to hide
And sneak out with my colors,
Hold onto my pride.
Instead, wiping my tears he
Blew “love’s kiss” to me;
“Enjoy the shades of this world
The colors are free.”
He paused to share his good news:
“More colors await;
Just believe my life paid and
Come through heaven’s gate.”
