TITLE: The Janitor | Previous Challenge Entry

and looked at the girl with the messy hair.
She leaned against the old gray wall,
with a big attitude for only five feet tall.
He didn’t say anything for awhile.
He just sat and watched her and started to smile.
“What’s wrong with you, man? Are you stupid or what?
I can’t believe they sent me to this old nut!”
“Tell me, why are you always fighting?”
He pulled out a pen and started writing.
“I don’t need to explain anything to you!
What can you say? What can you do?”
“Why are you filled with so much hate?”
“You don’t get it, Grandpa! You can’t relate!”
“Explain why you feel the need to hit.”
She just rolled her eyes and started to spit.
“If anything in your mouth hits that floor,
I’ll send you straight out that door!
You think you’re so mean and tough,
the police is outside if you want to get rough.”
She swallowed hard and sat down in the chair.
It was now her turn to sit back and stare.
Suddenly a tear ran down her face.
She didn’t want to be stuck in that place.
A room with a mop, a bucket, a broom,
was a strange holding cell: the janitor’s room.
A rap session with the janitor is no one’s dream,
but it was her very last chance to come clean.
So she talked to him to avoid an arrest.
They sent the janitor to help clean up her mess.
Once she started talking, it felt good to share.
Finally someone seemed to care.
She wanted the chance to live her life fully,
and not known for being the high school bully.
Well, the janitor became her first boss.
She worked for him a year to cover the cost.
To repair most of the damage that she did.
To replace most of the books that she hid.
She was grateful that he took her under his wing.
He taught her a lot about everything.
She’s college educated now with a new career,
but she still visits the janitor every year.

I'm having a hard time seeing 'light and dark' here, except figuratively...might be a bit weak on topic.
Love the last few stanzas.
