She thought she’d try to do,
Settling on a pattern,
She read instructions through.
She bought the cloth called aida
And the hoop to hold it taut,
Colors of flossy thread she chose
And learned about French knots.
Eased into her comfy chair--
Enthusiasm was her friend,
She pulled a pretty flossy tail,
But oops--pulled the wrong end.
Patiently at first she tried
To untangle the knotted mess,
But to scissors she surrendered
Just to free herself from stress.
Cutting ample lengths of floss,
Two strands each she did divide;
Threading her needle carefully,
“Where do I begin?” she sighed.
She thought it a waste of time
To find center, then count squares.
Hastily she poked a spot,
Thus beginning just anywhere.
Novice skills, her x’s formed
The picture well intended,
But prior to completing it
Her aida cloth had ended.
“Oh no, oh my, this cannot be,”
She cried in her dismay.
Discouraged and unfinished,
She threw her work away.
One should not be hasty
With decisions small or grand,
Ponder consequences,
Choose wisely--understand?
