“I can only say that I know this Lord Jesus Christ personally.’” Replied Binay softly, “And He came into my heart and transformed me. I was so sinful before He came in. He came and cleansed me thoroughly. I am what I am today because of Him alone! I know Rahul that He loves you. He would love to do the same to you too. Why don’t you accept Him now? He will surely take you to heaven one day!”
The conversation was going on in a hostel room. Binay and Rahul were room mates in a College Hostel.
“Rahul, there’s going to be a very good meeting at the Town Hall tomorrow evening. Why don’t you come with me? The speaker has come all the way from far.” Invited Binay.
“Oh, No Binay. I don’t want to come to any of your Christian meetings. Stop inviting me.” Said Rahul.
“Are you afraid that God will catch hold of you?” asked Binay. “No Binay. Stop pestering me for heaven’s sake. Leave me alone.” shouted Rahul.
But Binay did not leave Rahul alone. He kept calling him for every event. He shared his own testimony with him many times. He continued to pray faithfully for Rahul, through their college years. But there was no use. Rahul continued to refuse to entertain Christ.

Many years passed by. But Binay didn’t stop praying faithfully for Rahul’s salvation. One day Binay was having a cup of coffee alone at a restaurant at a remote town. A neatly dressed young man came to him. Can I sit with you?” he asked pleasantly, as he settled in a chair opposite to Binay.
They got to talking. “You know how I became a Christian?” Raj, the young man asked. He went on, “Can you see that street over there? I was feeling very depressed that day and was walking in despair. Suddenly a stranger came to me. He talked to me lovingly. He heard my whole story. Then he suggested simply that I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I immediately knelt down right here in this restaurant, and accepted Christ. Do you know what my friend said then?”
“What did he say?” enquired Binay. “He said that he had taken all of twenty five years to be convinced and commit himself to Christ, while I took less than twenty five minutes! He shared about how his room mate would patiently share the gospel with him frequently when they were in college. He used to mock at him and insult him. Much later in life, he turned to Christ. My friend, his name is Rahul told me that a radio message finally led him to choose Christ.”
“Did you say Rahul?” piped in Binay, taking his spectacles off. He was polishing them furiously with his handkerchief. “Did he tell you his room mate’s name?”
Raj looked at Binay. “No he didn’t.” Tears were rolling off Binay’s eyes. “I was his room mate Raj. I continued to pray for Rahul years after we left the college. Till today I had no news about Rahul. I was not sure what had happened to him.”
Just then a burly middle aged man dropped in. he saw Raj, recognized him and strode towards the table. “Hey Raj! How are you doing?” he asked. “And this must be…. Don’t tell me you are my old friend Binay…Are you?”
“Well, Rahul, after so many years?” choked Binay as he struggled in the bear hug of Rahul. “I was just chatting with Raj and he shared about you just now” said Binay after they settled down for another cup of coffee. “I am so happy that God heard my prayers. You have become my brother in Christ now. Praise God!”
“Why don’t we kneel down and praise God for His mercies towards us.” Asked Rahul. “Sure we will Rahul. I am so happy that Binay’s prayers and pestering paid off. If it hadn’t, who would have shared about Christ to me?”
