Once upon a time in a quiet suburb near young girls, was a traditional teenager named Veronica. She had deep blue eyes with soft long, brown hair. She typically wore her hair pulled back in a ponytail with one ribbon, from her colorful rainbow selection, tied in a bow. Veronica was 13 years-old and the daughter of Pastor Sam who led the Living Waters Church in town. Even though she appeared to be a typical teenager, Veronica had a special power.
Whenever her ears tingled, she knew another young girl’s virtue was in trouble. Her sixth sense, a gift from God, had been revealed to her in a dream. At first, she thought it was just a silly dream, but one day when her ears began to tingle, she tried to ignore the sensation and the images that were running through her mind. Then, her ears started to burn, as if on fire, she knew she had to find the girl that was in trouble. Veronica jumped on her bike, not knowing what she was going to do when she arrived, but she believed and trusted that God would lead her.
Veronica hopped off her bike as she approached a small, white and grey house on Shaker Street. The Holy Spirit whispered inside the depths of her head, “Go around to the back.” Slightly frightened, Veronica obeyed. The cool breeze seemed to send chills down the back of her neck. Behind the house, the yard appeared to be empty. A blue swing swayed back and forth, the leaves rustled in a soft musical hum, and the door of a shed that sat up against a rusty fence, creaked as it slowly opened and closed in the same direction of the wind. Veronica looked upward, “Now what?”
Suddenly, she heard a faint voice coming from inside the shed, “Billy, please don’t.” As Veronica approached the shed she opened the door wide, the sunlight angled in and Veronica saw the blonde hair, chocolate-eyed girl that haunted her mind for the past hour. Towering over her was a tall, crew-cut haired boy. In her bravest voice, Veronica ordered, “Billy, get off of her!” Billy, not knowing who she was or how she even knew is name, ran out of the shed like a bolt of lightening. Missy fixed her ruffled lilac blouse and walked out of the shed, teary-eyed, she thanked Veronica for helping her.
The girls sat on the swings and talked for over an hour. Missy was a little older than Veronica and Billy was her new boyfriend. Missy told Veronica that she thought she and Billy were just going to kiss a little, but Billy had something else in mind. Veronica felt the power of the Holy Spirit urging her to share the love of Christ with Missy. She boldly shared the gospel and told Missy that there was only one love that was worth Missy’s attention. Veronica explained that Christ would love her and show her that her purity was something special to save for her future husband-until their wedding night.
From that day forward, Missy broke it off with Billy and attended church with Veronica. The girls became close friends. Since Missy was Veronica’s first “Case,” whenever Veronica felt her ears tingle, the daring duo would head out to rescue another girl’s honor. Leaping on their bikes, they would declare in unison, “Virtuous Veronica and Moral Missy” off on another adventure.
Each time they had the privilege of helping another lost, lonely, or scared girl, the pair promised not to tell a soul about the circumstances surrounding their meetings. They continued to pray to God for guidance and relied on the Holy Spirit to protect them. With love and respect the girls shared the Good News and many teenagers placed their faith in Jesus. Knowing that they had helped other girls stand-up to defend their honor, and watching their new Christian friends grow in Christ was reward enough.
