She looked around and indicated toward the end of the field.
I could see Clarissa sitting at the end of the field, far away from the church crowd. I hardly recognized her because she had dyed her hair. Her brunette hair was now purple. She was hiding in plain sight. I went down the field and said "Hi Clarissa".
Her usually exuberance was gone." It is supposed to be pink! Not blue! I look so ugly " she said with tears.
"When you wash it, in time it will go pink" I said hopefully.
"I have to go to school tomorrow" she wailed.
Clarissa dilemma reminded me that the Lord knew what she has done and He was not upset. "It will be okay," I said trying to reassure her.
'He has numbered our hair' [Luke 12:7 ESV} came into my mind.
Clarissa’s hair reminds me of the infinite omnipotence of our Creator. God knows because He created blonde, black, red, grey and brown hair, curly and straight and our variety of hair represents the incredible knowledge that God has about you, I and all the nations of His world.
Extending this thought further.
God had great fun, I think, creating such variety by giving curly, wavy, straight or kniky to the different nations.
Look at the nations; they all have distinctive hair and it looks good. As a human we are often not satisfied with the way we look.
The comment "I hate my hair or I hate my nose" is often heard. The beauty business makes a lot of profit. Wigs and Botox are all the rage.
Now look at the terrain where you live. What do you see?
Magnificent mountain ranges and hills, vast rivers and lakes or rural flatlands full of oaks and cedar trees or dry arid deserts. It's all His work, just like hair.
"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works." {Psalm 139:14 ESV} should be our response.
Every exquisite detail of Clarissa's hair, as well as the earth and the rocks that form mountains and the water that fills lakes and rivers are His design and reflects the complexity and precision that is God.
Weeks later, I saw Clarissa and her hair was almost back to normal. She was back to her 'old' exuberant self. The dye had become less pronounced. There were traces of pink but she had hope, because soon it would all be gone.
God's blessings that caused hair to grow, rivers to run and trees to produce were working for her. As I see it, creation is never still.
