What is a crowd? A common definition is 'a large number of people gathered together'. Sometimes a peaceful group, sometimes excited, loud, unruly, sometimes inciting violence. There are many 'faces' to a crowd. There are varied aftermaths from a crowd. Increased security, vigilance and changed legislation. Greater admiration by crowd members for achievement and skill. A brief economic boost.
However, there was a crowd that changed the world, although they didn't know it. The crowd that yelled to Pilate 'Crucify Him! Crucify Him!', sent Jesus to the cross. It was part of God's plan. Because He loved, all true believers are redeemed, saved and need no longer fear death. Eternity in His glorious presence awaits!.
If there were headlines in Jesus' time perhaps they would have read:
'Crowd clamours for carpenter's crucifixion!'
'Small crowd claims carpenter Jesus risen from dead!'
'Immense crowds convert to Christianity claiming forgiveness of sin and eternal life!'
One day will you see a great crowd of angels?
