Winter came today
with a chill as sharp as any proverbial knife,
slicing and freezing with each pierce.

Winter came.
I saw it cold and heartless in a message
that left me reeling,
screaming silently at the unexpected intruder,
who came breaking and crashing
into the sacred hearth of my life.

Winter
stared at me
through the steel gray eyes of a wise man,
one who knows,
and in so few words
closed tight the door to tomorrow.

My mind stumbles in panicked lameness
as my heartís frantic clawing
screeches against winterís ice.

Like a child,
lost and moaning for a mother,
I cry for You
in the darkness of this bitter blizzard.
I am certain You are far away
until Your Voice
melts through the ice,
and the warmth of Your Hand
reaches mine.

ďThis way, Child, follow Me.Ē

Though icy windís razor teeth bite and pierce,
I feel Your sure grasp,
the grasp of my winter Sun.

Though cold night tries to smother me in darkness,
I know the Hand of the Sun.
Though Winter claims this flesh,
and despairís sleeted shadows
trap my mind,
my spirit belongs to the Sun.

I am a Child of the Sun.

I enjoyed this. You captured the feel of winter well and I liked your analogy. Well done.

I like winter..so I really don't dread it too much--the sun shines in winter too. I liked your thoughts anyway..looking at a different view. God bless ya, littlelight

The 5th stanza is my favorite. The warmth of His love melts the coldness we have within. Very nice.

Yes, you captured the winter times in our soul when it can be so dark. I love the sun and I loved your phrase, 'I am a Child of the Sun.' He is always there reaching out to us, even when we can't see Him. I LOVED this.
