By experience, I have learned an enlightening lesson. A mysterious disappearance of cash transpires from bank-to budget-to billfold.
Our in-come and out-go very often do not balance out. I am not the first senior citizen, or the last, to deal with the dilemma of living on a fixed income.
God is blessing us in ways a big bank account could never do. I sense my need to walk daily by faith and to leave the bottom line of finance in the hands of the one who owns it all.
Today, the Father blessed me as his Holy Spirit brought to mind a woman facing far greater financial stress. Ruthless creditors harassed her.
They were ready to take her sons as slaves. Prophet Elisha questioned how he could help and asked what she had in her home. (2 Kings 4:2a) All she had was a jar of oil.
“Then he said, ‘Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones (2 Kings 4:3-4 NKJ)." She obeyed.
When she had filled all of the gathered vessels with oil from her jar, something miraculous occurred. “So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, ‘Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest (2 Kings 4:6b-7 NKJ).”
I cannot help but contemplate the calamities that could have transpired. The woman might have failed to tell Elisha of her need, not trusted him enough to follow his advice, or had not filled enough jars.
Will I trust my Savior to suffice?
“According to your faith let it be to you (Matthew 9:29b NKJ).”

A beautiful devotional that will touch many. Thank you for this timely reminder that God is teh Master of all, and all we have to do is "trust Him" and listen to "His voice."
Excellent job.
Thanks.
God bless~
Good use of Bible story.
Another situation that Jesus observed was the widow putting all she had into the treasury. The story does not tell us more but I fill in the story with her next needs being met by someone sent by God.
Good to contemplate situations like this to build faith and trust but also build contentment with what we have.
