Indeed it is finally here
The long awaited New Year
Casting down all her fear
She has a resolution to meet
Up she rises from her seat
This she definitely must beat
There will be no more defeat
Without a doubt life is not fair
But for victory she ought to prepare
This time she will not despair
A soldier engages in warfare
Despite her wages remaining the same
There is no one to blame
Her position she must claim
Creating new rules of the game
She gets set to aim
She has made a decision
Unwavering with precision
She sees herself in a vision
And needs no revision
She won’t retreat
Making these ends meet
Will be her impressive feat
No more cold feet
Living within her means
On determination she leans
Thank God for rice and beans
With that she can fit in her jeans

Although you did well with the rhyming, it seems rather forced at times. The rhythm of the lines could be smoother.
