full fresh in ripened sweetness
of flesh soft fruit and blushing flower,
here in Adam’s bower.
In beauty Eden lay
languid in man’s morning,
golden in creation’s molten glow.
Eden, in man’s springtime,
breathes in ethereal dew
beneath cerulean hues.
In beauty Eden lay
with rivulet’s rich flowing
by fragrant roses growing
in breezes hot with Heaven’s whispered plan,
the eternity of man,
all pleasure in his hand.
Here Eden lay
in sun-kissed scents caressing fairest dawn.
Earthly Beauty, heretofore unknown,
has gilded verdant virtue
with everlasting song and promise pure
from Heaven’s own.
In beauty Eden lay,
gift given from the Spirit as He stays
in garden sweet
and walks among the trees
as Adam’s Friend,
where Beauty is at peace
in Eden’s fair release
‘til one more gift is given.
In beauty Eden lay
in innocence before the fated day
when man shall choose
his way.
