Sharing His love--God’s greatest command.
In dark, ugly places fear grows--you can smell it,
Prison cells ache for saints to dispel it.
In shivering shelters warm woolen covers
Could speak of His love to sisters and brothers.
Servants of God sweat in soup kitchens,
Flickering lights of the love that God mentions.
Street corners resound with ringing of bells.
Carolers bring joy as sweet voices swell.
Volunteers giving time to churches and clinics,
Shine their lights to lost souls and cynics.
Will you give strength to someone who’s weak,
Be bold and brave for someone who’s meek?
A smile, a touch may help reassure
Those clinging to hopes that they will endure.
Kindnesses shown in the smallest of ways
Can spread out His light in glorious rays.
Beacons of light--we are called to the task.
To shine in the darkness, to lift Evil’s mask.
Speak of His grace, for all need to know it.
Faithfulness to God--does my life show it?
A beacon of light, please help me to be
A servant dear Lord for humanity.
And should my light falter and grow dim
In my stormy waves or my quicksand sin,
Send an angel, Lord, to keep me from sinking
And still my unrest with spiritual thinking.
Could I fill a basket with my gifted light
And present it with cheer to someone tonight?
A privilege, yes, that’s what it would be,
In service to You, illuminate me.

We should be this way all the year round, not only at Christmas. Thank you for writing this beautiful Poem.
