One battered branch became severed and torn
Removed by the tumult of the gust to flee
Far removed from security of that well known tree
Thoughts caught adrift to adjoin the raging sea
Of humanity.
Withstanding its seasonal flow
At mercy of course where rivers currently go
In restraint of finding itself home.
With relief the branch in due time
Was washed ashore to a deserted beach
With thankfulness thought home was within reach.
within the tides of time - forlorn
Was beaten and scraped by the elements - worn
As time passed by a girl that roams with dismay
Witnessed the spectacle of debris display.
With a calculated swift kick removed herself
From that sticky scene - with a step Of quick.
But in divine time a boy entered the scene
With the driftwood catching an innocent's beam
And was captured by its artistry - well deemed.
Thought with moving lips - allowed
"There is room in my Father's house - hallowed."
With haste he returned home with his Christmas surprise
And gleamed at his Fathers welcomed surprise.
Being a carpenter by trade
Was known as a man not easily swayed.
Rubbing it gently with a emery cloth
In removing the remaining dross
Displayed it as a priceless mantle
For all to be shown.
Welcoming it as one of His own.
With thoughtfulness he looked up aglow
Conveying, "You need to know this branch
Was once a part of me."
While an angelic band - in perfect harmony
Chorused " Merry Christmas to you all",
Before and after a branches fall.
