1. Martin is a hard working, white-color business man. He spends his day in corporate meetings projecting sales for the current year, researching the latest revenue ideas on the computer system, and kissing up to his boss, in hopes of being promoted to Regional Manager. His only highlight of the day is when he takes his coffee break with his friends down in the lobby of their building. Martin and his buddies all enjoy a much needed java shot, while joking about which intern they would like to take out on a date.
2. Samantha is a young, beautiful actress waiting to make a name for herself among the stars of Hollywood. Each audition seems to get harder and harder. More and more exquisite looking young women appear, all striving for the same dream. Her job as a waitress is barely paying her bills and the thought of going back home to Alabama is heartbreaking. She fantasizes about a well-known producer coming into the restaurant, where she works, and giving her the first break she needs by discovering her. She envisions him handing her a business card while explaining that she has just the look he has been searching for.
3. Lisa is an angry, bitter divorcée. She can not seem to stop hating her ex-husband, Steve. Their 14 year marriage ended in a horrible divorce. Steve found comfort in the arms of his new love, a trophy wife, named Bridget. Breaking Steve or Bridget’s neck is not an option but Lisa struggles with the desire, just the same. She cries herself to sleep questioning her sanity and hoping she will one day be able to break away from all this pain and suffering.
Does the idea of having a coffee break with friends at Starbucks seem appealing? Or is the opportunity of a break into fame knocking at your door? Or else, do you find yourself wishing to catch a break from all the sorrow in this World? Well, there is only one break that beats them all. It is the break of having Grace poured over you while given the gift of eternal life. Accepting Jesus Christ as your savior is the only way to break through the chains of sin. In Him there is freedom! Freedom from the bondage of sin that wears us down. A praise and worship song that expresses this fully is, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, There is Freedom.” “There is peace, there is joy, there is love,” are the strong lyrics that give hope in believing in the One true God. His power broke through time and space to live among, to love, and to die for us.
Give yourself a break, come to Christ!
