I have never been a daring person, though my mom always told people I was a tomboy. I could never understand why she thought that. How can you be afraid of your own shadow and be considered a tomboy?
My husband, Gary, and I were on a tour of The Holy Land and the day had finally arrived for us to visit—Masada-- I had no idea what that mean. I am not well versed on the bible, though I am a strong believer, just not good at studying.
Well, in case you are as oblivious as to what Masada is as I was that day, let me try to give you an idea of this place we were about to visit.
After riding in our tour bus a couple of hours we pulled up to a large parking area and began to leave the bus. Then I heard all these oooos and ahaaaas and I looked up to see what was causing the excitement.
It is a huge rock mountain, at least a mile high, almost straight up!
And, you guessed it, my worst fear is—heights! My poor husband, who is afraid of nothing, began trying to calm me down by explaining that it was going to be alright. He would be right beside me the whole way and there would be a “tram” to carry us to the top. I said, “Yeah, a big bus connected to chains that I am supposed to believe is safe?”.
He replied, “Yes sweetheart, it’s perfectly safe and dependable or they wouldn’t be bringing us here.”
I pulled my sweatshirt a little tighter around me, trying to disappear, but it didn’t work. I had to be brave and climb into that big hunk of metal and trust it to take me up and back down without killing me.
The ride up was beautiful. We could see forever over the land where Jesus and his disciples had traveled by foot, sharing the word to all who would listen. I DID NOT LOOK DOWN, just out!

Great entry,
Blessings~
I would either be looking out or closing my eyes for part of my tour of Masada.
I would have liked to have been brought to an end and have found out about "the mountain".
The first two paragraphs were a little rocky but it got us in the mood to expect more fits of fright.
I did like what you were trying to express.

Some little errors could have been avoided if read out loud or to someone else.
I agree with Larry. It ended to abruptly for me.
I think you hit the topic, but needed more about your fears in an active way.
Tell us what those fears did to you, i.e., "I broke out into a cold sweat, my hand trembled grabbing the entrance to the lift..." These are rudimentary, but maybe you get the idea.
Tell us more about your visit. I bet it was inspirational. God bless
