zacchaeus decides to forgo
his coin of opportunity
to make more money
when he thinks of Jesus' show

For this dawn
will bring something new
more than the promise
of commerce

It brings with it
something more than
financial gain--it is
the promise of a Messiah

As Jesus approaches
the crowd swells
Waves of hope
rise and gather in momentum

The tides of crowd
crashes on each other
squeezes the smallish out
such as dwarf zacchaeus

Short in height
but rich in ideas
he makes a quick dash
for a sycamore tree

He longs to glimpse
the renown teacher
the Son of David
the promised Saviour

He reaches the top
as the chief tax collector
Now on top of the tree
will the tax collectors' Friend see?

He is dazed
by the sight of children
huddles of men, women and
holy men

Is Jesus too busy
to notice him?
but He psaw
Nathanael from afar

Suddenly Jesus stops
and gazes at him
a brand new dawn
shines on the despised man

He feels a warm light
coursing through the veins
of his dark soul, when Jesus
invites, " Come down Zacchaeus!"
