With no formal training, he was a natural at his job. Ruddy was a gifted Conservationist and was entrusted to manage the only Zoo of its kind. His initial task was to conduct a full inventory of the place and file a detailed report to his benefactor as quickly as possible. It was an enormous undertaking, but he rose to the challenge and succeeded in meeting all expectations.
His arranged marriage came soon afterwards. It indeed was love at first sight. When he was introduced to the stunning young lady, Ruddy gasped with elation, “Whoa, man.” The marriage, he knew was a match made in Heaven.
Like many matrimonial relationships, Ruddy and his bride had their struggles early on. As a matter of fact, shortly after setting up house, a small family matter had caused them to be evicted from their beautiful garden home. Ruddy’s father, full of love for them both was also full of doing what was right. So, living under his roof meant living under his rules.
One day Ruddy’s wife came to him with an idea which she believed would elevate them in the eyes of their benefactor. As she shared her desire with him, Ruddy didn’t see it as having a selfish motivation and agreed to the plan’s benefits. So, with that he made the life altering mistake of placing his desire to please his bride instead of desiring to please his father and obey the one and only rule that his father had laid down.
He never forgot the curse his father had made upon their future. The words haunted him his whole life. “Get out, and don’t come back. Ever!” Losing his cushy job and having to fend for himself to provide for his family was bad enough. The shame of hurting his father was worse. The only good news was that his father had forgiven them the transgression and restored their relationship back to love.
Now, having to carve out a living in a strange land and dealing with a strange and uncooperative environment was like nothing he had ever experienced. But, with the guidance and support from his father and learning his lesson to place first loyalty to the one who provides and not bite the hand that feeds you, the coupled thrived in their new life.
Not long afterwards, Ruddy’s wife, who he called Eve came to him and said that she was pregnant and that they would be blessed with a child. After the baby was born, Eve came to her husband, who she called Adam to let him know they would be blessed with a second child.
Like all moms and dads, raising children had its challenges. But, finally realizing that father knows best, Adam and Eve did the best they could to teach their two boys the same lessons they had learned. The youngest boy grew up to be a God fearing young man and the oldest boy grew up to become a murderer.
Their happy home was shattered when the eldest boy, Cain surrendered to the same temptation that jettisoned his parents away from the lap of luxury, and allowed his desire for pride and ego to kill his younger brother in a jealous rage. Can you imagine having to bury a son or daughter that was killed by his only sibling?
Getting past that tragedy and doing all they could to keep their own desires in check, Adam and Eve lived a long and productive life. Some believe they raised over 50 children during their lifetime, where Adam breathed his last at the ripe old age of 930 years.
