“My room has a padlock on it,” Greg yelled at Sarah.
“So does mine,” Sarah replied. “It must be another one of Mom’s bible lessons. See, here is a note”
She began reading the note as Greg quickly walked toward her, Give us this day our daily bread, (Math 6:11).
“What does that mean?” questioned Greg.
“I’m guessing it has something to do with food, said Sarah. Let’s try the kitchen.”
Looking around the kitchen they quickly spied some sandwiches, placed upon a bowl with another note.
“Let’s eat and then see what this says,” she grabbed a sandwich and then began to read the second note.
Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, (Math22:39).
“Look, here is Millie’s name on the bowl; she’s our neighbor,” Greg surmised. “Guess Mom made her a fruit salad. Let’s go!”
Millie thanked them for the bowl of salad as she handed them a third note. “Your mom said she has some things she wants you to do.”
“Greg, what does it say?” inquired Sarah.
Yet the dogs eat of the crumbs, which fall from their masters’ table.
“I’m getting this,” Greg grinned; trying to impress Sarah with is knowledge. Mom wants us to feed the dog. She makes this bible stuff kind of fun.”
“There is one more bible verse here. It says, Study to show thyself approved unto God. You know what that means?
”
“Homework,” they both said in unison.
Off they went, back to the house to feed their dog and begin their homework.
Excitedly they found two keys taped to the bag of dog food, and one last note.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Here are the keys to your rooms. When you finish your studies, you are free to enjoy whatever activity you want. Your dad and I will be home by six. After supper, we will discuss these bible verses I used and have our nightly prayer together.
Here is one more passage to consider, Math. 6:19-21, (look it up). Every treasure we have here on earth; our food, our neighbors, our pets, our ability to learn, and our toys are all gifts from God. Yet, the greatest treasure of all is God’s love.
Love Mom
