Beauty is a relative term and perhaps for this reason, Eve was not so described in Scripture, as there was no other woman, at the time, for her to be compared to.
Or could it be that the beauty Adam saw in her had nothing to do with overt appearance?
A beautiful overt appearance can mask the ugliness of an evil mind and character that has been corrupted by the very “beauty” and “splendor (Ezekiel 28: 17 NIV)” one possesses.
1Peter 3:3 is not a Biblical prohibition against woman having attractive hairstyles, nice clothing, or jewelry.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman who desires to look her best, but her desire to do and to be so should be for the pleasure of her husband if she is married, or to attract the type of man she would want to have for a husband, if she is single and desires to find a mate for life.
Like a juicy steak, a hungry man may be attracted to a seductive woman, but when the appetite has been satisfied, what’s left behind is discarded and he moves on to next available meal.
“ Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentile and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight (1Peter 3: 4).” This is the beauty that God and a man who possesses “…mind of Christ (1Cor. 2: 16 NIV)”, sees as a “beautiful” woman.
Ladies, there is nothing uglier than a woman who has all the physical characteristics that a man could desire, but lacks the heart, warmth, and emotions of the sensitive and supportive (1Cor. 11: 9) being that God has created her to be.
An identical twin sister to such a woman would be one who chooses to look, act, speak, and behave in a masculine manner.
Such attributes are praiseworthy by advocates of liberation movements for women, but one must ask what it is that proponents of such behaviors desire to be liberated from (Romans 13: 1, 2).
Any objective that requires a woman to set aside her femininity and conduct herself like one of the boys in order to secure or adequately function in such a position, is likely to cause her to lose much more than she could have ever hoped to gain in the process. There is no “quiet and gentile spirit (1Pet. 3: 4 NIV)” to be found in a woman who is projects herself as masculine in appearance, speech, or behavior.
There aren’t too many “beautiful” things that God has created that either Satan or Man in the course eternity past or time has not been diminished or made ugly by perverting the character, purpose, function, and nature that He has designed for them to have and exhibit.
Satan was given beauty and power, but he was not satisfied with any of these nor was he content with the position and function that God chose for him. As a result, he was transformed from the divine beauty that he was created to be, into a devastating fiend of destruction on a cosmic level (Ezekiel 28: 14-17).
Contrary to what is seen in the movies, there is nothing in the Bible that says that Satan ever lost ANY of the beauty of his overt appearance as the cherub angel that he was created to be (Ezekiel 28: 14), yet he became the epitome of what real ugliness is all about.
Most women that I know are always looking for beauty aids at a bargain price, so I thought I would close with the following thought.
I know of a beauty aid and a beauty parlor that offers its services free of charge. It is open 24 hrs. a day, seven days a week and requires no set appointments, tipping, or waiting. Its chemistry presents no health issues to the consumer or to the environment. Although it does not offer the latest styles or trends, it never the less guarantees to maximize your potential in becoming and maintaining the highest standards of true beauty available anywhere.
Oh, it’s name? The Word of God.
