Certainly there is a correspondence between the fullness of this waxing moon and the waxing cold of the Amorites, but the connection with its coloration is more precarious. One might be inclined to think climate a factor as though the moon were a little boy, bluing on a brisk night. But while I am no astronomer, I can safely say such is not the case. Neither is this most unusual moon a ball of bleu cheese poised to be broken over a salad day, as some impertinently posit.
Once in a blue moon, it is most difficult to escape. The orbital pull of forlorn rotations sucks both breath and dreams from one’s lungs and heart, making merriment and buoyancy unbearably hard to recover, and a lonesome lunacy the order of the day.
But if and when, on some enchanted evening or early velvet morning, you should whisper, “Please adore me,” and requited love makes the moon spin me right round like the girth of a drunken Girgashite, you will be aware I have said a prayer for someone I could care for, and now I am no longer alone again or without a dream in my heart.
