Do the colors of this world grab your heartstrings and pull tight?
Do they splash with sweet abandon, dancing in your dreams at night?
Does your heart rejoice and laugh and sing at every glorious sight?
Then, thank your Father every time He gives you such delight!
My heart recalls magnificence in autumn’s flaming gown,
With trees a-glitter, sequined, shining, orange, gold and brown.
Driving in the mountains, sunlight piercing through the leaves,
Sparkling jewels, dazzling trinkets, on the fingers of the trees.
Or come across the mountaintop, the vista spread at twilight.
Blue mountain ranges lining up, from darkest hue to light,
White wisps of fog are nestled down in every sunken hollow;
In muted blue, a lone star shines, inviting more to follow.
A rolling field in summer yields a vibrant sheen of green,
While in the fall, a golden harvest beauty now is seen.
The winter starkness of black trunks and branches in the snow
Is soon replaced by springtime’s gentler green and softer glow.
White beaches on the Gulf Coast, whitecaps on blue-green waves,
The bluest sky with bright white clouds, the best of summer days.
Come evening, if you’re fortunate, a sunset blushing free,
Pink and purple, rose and gold, reflected in the sea.
Even when the shutter’s drawn, and eyelids flutter closed,
Memory serves me up a picture, with every smidgen posed
As if He made that scene for me. He did, in fact, I know!
Gifts of joyous riots of color on me He does bestow.
Do the colors of this world grab your heartstrings and pull tight?
Do they splash with sweet abandon, dancing in your dreams at night?
Does your heart rejoice and laugh and sing at every glorious sight?
Then, thank your Father every time He gives you such delight!
