With riches and pain, You are adorned
You show us both meekness and majesty,
Servanthood and royalty,
In the dust for humanity,
Lifted high for all to see,
A man of sorrows slain for me.
The Purple Heart that speaks of wounds,
The soldier’s uniform proudly festoons,
An Oak leaf cluster wrought in gold,
Worn with pride by young and old,
In the Pomp and ceremony,
And in Dust and ignominy
Oh Dear Lord, please set us free.
The prince of peace and the guns of war,
What is it they are fighting for?
In the mud of Flanders and the dusty plain,
Our cry to you, is still the same,
In purple prose or heartfelt song,
Remembering those who have gone.
Oh Lord in our peril, we cry to Thee
Come Lord Jesus, set us free.
Oh lord we lift our hearts to Thee,
Unbind the chains of ignominy,
For in our world so full of pain,
We cry out to You, again and again,
Waiting for a time, when mankind at last is free,
Every nation dwelling in peace and harmony.
In silence, with a red poppy, we bend the knee,
For You are Lord of all the earth
And You alone can bring new birth.
Every tear You will wipe away,
To every grieving mother You will say
All things are now made new,
And all our sorrow now is through
When we at last can dwell with You.
Oh Lord we know the time will one day come,
When You in majesty, Shining brightly as the sun
Will break the rod and come with power
Your peace on earth, like raindrops shower.
And taking our dirty, muddy clothes
Replace them with white glowing robes
And on our finger place a ring
A purple amethyst fit for a king.
