And lash the heart and soul
The one whose love transcends all time
Seeing not in part but all
Knows in the passing moments we
Bound by this mortal frame
Can sometimes only sorrow see
Amidst our teeming shame.
Within the heart of God our cries
Ring like a sacred song
Our agony and muted sighs
He hears with love so strong
He sent His Son to share our wound
In solitude and suffering long
As Father watched with baited breath
His Son so torn by our disease
Yet crying out upon His death
Forgive them Father please.
Our Father holds us when we weep
His tears fall down like gentle showers
To comfort us with precious sleep
And wash away our sorrows.
He fills our hearts back up with love
And hope, because He knows
The greatest blessings flow out of
The things that hurt us most

FYI--the phrase is 'bated breath'. It's short for 'abated', meaning that one has held one's breath in anticipation.
Thanks for this reminder of our blessings!
