“Why Jim Bob Andrews you old hound dog how’s things going with you? How would you like to grab a cup of coffee at Charlie’s Café and catch up on all that’s happened since we graduated from college?” Bo hollered back.
“That sound like a plan. So many things happened while I was in college Bo and it was life changing. There are so many vices in the city and you can find just about anything your heart desires. I went to frat parties that had beer, wine, whiskey and women. I fell in with a rowdy bunch and was soon living a life of sin and enjoying it.
“Jim Bob you are not the only one that was lured into wild living. I am a preacher’s son and you would have thought I knew better but I forgot everything dad taught me. I got in with a crowd that lived for themselves and they said God gave us free will and once saved always saved. I swallowed everything they said completely. After graduation from East Texas Baptist University, I came home with an attitude that shocked dad. He sat me down and handed me his Bible.
Dad said. “Bo Isaiah 53:6 says. “We all, like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way.” Bo the book of Romans is a good book to read and Romans 3:10-18 may help. Son, some children have to learn the hard way and they suffer the consequences for their actions. They may have been raised in the church but sometimes like Adam and Eve, they taste the sweetness of forbidden fruit. Ephesians 6:12-13 explains it best. We don’t battle against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, powers of darkness and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. All I can say son is that we serve a God who is full of love, grace and mercy. Once we repent and ask forgiveness for our transgressions He forgives us and welcomes us back into His open arms.”
“Jim Bob it sure is good to see you. Our parents always said we were like two peas in a pod although we aren’t related because we both went astray. It sure is good being in the Lords care instead of being out of it and living in the world. I guess you are pretty busy taking care of all the animals with your dad. Being the only veterinarian around keeps you and your dad pretty busy. I am now the youth pastor and when dad retires I will become pastor but I am hoping it will be a long time before that happens. Jim Bob there is no place on earth that is free of sin but God thank you for little towns like ours. It sure is good being home surrounded with people that love the Lord. I will see you in church Sunday so take care.”
“Well, Bo I will see you later and as your dad says when he closes church service. May the Lord bless and keep you until we meet again.”
