Our national debt is increasing on an average of 1.8 billion dollars a day while the dollar continues to fall. The Euro has shot to an all time high against the US dollar recently. Countries like China and the Asian central banks hold about one trillion dollars of US Assets. China and Asia could wage war against America by simply dumping their huge holding of American dollars. This would drive the dollar down and send our economy into a spiraling economic collapse.
Paul Volcker, Chairman of the US Federal Reserve said: “There’s a 75% chance that the US will experience a currency crisis within five years.” Our economy seems to be at a point of no return and this prospect alone should be bothersome to Americans.
When we saw the twin towers fall on 9/11 we thought that was as bad as it can get. As I watched the towers fall It was like watching a Hollywood movie but it turned out to be the real thing and over three thousand Americans died on that fateful day.
The terrorists threat is a tremendously serious matter and it can no longer be limited to just a few crazy radical individuals. The next challenge to the American way of life could come soon through suicide bombings or God forbid a dirty nuclear bomb. Experts are now stating it’s no longer a matter of if, but when.
We are also being warned of the possibility of Iran or North Korea knocking out our technical infrastructure with one electromagnetic pulse weapon. During a hearing to the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism they described the threat:
“An electromagnetic Pulse attack on the American homeland is one of only a few ways that the United States could be defeated by its enemies. A single Scud missile carrying a single nuclear weapon, detonated at the appropriate attitude, would interact with the earths atmosphere, producing an electromagnetic pulse radiating down to the surface at the speed of light. Depending on the location and size of the blast, the effect would be to knock out already stressed power grids and other electrical systems across much or even all of the continental United States, for months if not years.”
Our enemies know that if we are deprived of power, we soon become helpless. Our communication would shut down, there would be no refrigeration so our food would begin rotting in our supermarkets. Our gas stations would be left with no electricity to pump gas into our automobiles and trucks. The cities water supply would not be sanitized and emergency services like 911 would no longer work. It would not be long before we had a total breakdown of social order as we saw in the Katrina disaster.
God is sending us a strong message that we can no longer place our confidence and trust in a worldly system that is teetering on the brink of collapse. When everything around us is falling apart and all our security measures fail there is only one person in whom we can be confident. Paul said: “So we say with confidence; The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6. On the other side of economic collapse, terrorism or natural disasters stands Jesus and we can be confident that He will guide us through the fire into life everlasting.
