Derth soared in the air as though he were an eagle. His senses on high alert and his wings spread as wide as they could go. He knew something was wrong, it was almost as if someone were writing down what he was doing as he was doing it. He couldn’t shake the feeling that his every move was being thought out by another.

He flew over the Chorest Monastery and saw all of the monks and priest busy writing things down or researching things. He couldn’t help but wonder if one of them happened to be the one writing his story as he was going. Shivers ran through his body and cold chills almost made him lose the ability to fly. He shuddered once more and forced the thoughts from his mind.

He flew over the mountain top and towards the city of Dragon Keep. He knew that his presence there would not inflict any fear, as they were used to seeing the large bronze flying watch over the city. His protection was actually sought after from many towns and cities within the Dragon’s Lake area.

He flew in closer, towards the great library and hovered as he spotted several different people writing on the large tables outside. Again, the feelings from before washed all over him, almost overwhelming him. He looked up and wondered if God was just trying to get his attention. After all, it had been awhile since he really had any type of conversation with him. He realized that he had been caught up in everyday life and just gotten to busy.

“Lord, Father,” He spoke with such reverence and an almost noticeable sense of awe, “Why do I feel this way? Are you trying to bring me back to you? I am here, tell me what you will.”

The pride that usually filled a dragon was wiped away, humility filled his heart. He still felt as if someone were writing his story as he was living it, but now he knew who the author was. He felt an overwhelming sense of love come over him and he again looked heavenward.

“Thank you, Father,” He again spoke, “You are the author of my life, knowing me even before I was in my mothers womb. Knowing me even before you created this world.” Tears filled his eyes. “Of course you would be the one to write my story.” With that, he sobbed and smiled all at once.

He turned and flew over the town again. Looking at the inhabitants, of which he had come to love very much.

“I hope I have given you a good story to write, my Lord. I hope you have been able to write a most excellent legacy.” With that, he soared up into the clouds.

At the library, many scholars worked feverishly to write out different projects that they were expected to complete for different clients. They would research and write, then find a new customer and start all over again. Only one young scholar was there to write a story that had been placed upon his heart.

Gordon looked up and caught a fleeting glimpse of the large bronze dragon as he soared into the clouds and couldn’t help but to wonder if God would allow him to keep writing. He was really enjoying the stories God had put on his heart about the dragon.

“Where will this dragon go now, Lord, and what type of adventure will I be able to pen for him.”

With that, Gordon picked up his pen and dipped it into the ink. He began to write feverishly as the Lord, once again, put another story on his heart.
