We are programmed to have a beginning and an end in our lives here on earth. Our lives start with just a simple act of love between our parents. That effortless act of love produces cells that grow, into a fetus that is born in forty weeks. We grow from an infant to a child, finally to an adult. Our lives flourish for a certain number years before our end, which is our death, comes. We are appointed to die sometime in life. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (ESV) For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.
We are people that have to have an agenda orientated life, which has to have a beginning and an end to it; where our lives are like a race, that has a starting point and an ending point. Our lives are like that in so many ways. We get all excited at the start to where the excitement is all built up to the point of; we are just exhausted out, at the end when we get to the finishing line. We just feel like we just cannot go on any longer in life. Our end has come at last.
Sometimes when good things come to an ending we are disappointed with having to put a stop to something we have enjoyed, such as we were are having a good time with our friends, the evening has been filled with laughter, then it is time for all the fun we were having to stop. We wish the night would never end.
Then the end of our lives there is many things we have to look forward to when we close our eyes here on earth, and we open them in Heaven “if” we know Christ as our personal Savior. There are rewards for when our lives concludes here on earth. We get to see the face of our sweet Savior who awaits us when our lives comes to a finish here and begins, when we open our eyes in Heaven. Other wise if we do not know Christ, hell and damnation is poured upon us that fails to end.
In contrast to us, where we have a beginning and an ending, God has no starting or ending point. He has always existed. He will never experience birth or death, as we know it. John 1:1-2 (KJV) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. The same was in the beginning with God.” A day with God is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day with God. There is no ending with Him. He is not restricted with time as we are. Christ can end things but He does not have an end in life. We cannot grasp, there is no end with God. We cannot comprehend it because we think everything has to have a start and an ending to it.
Even in the Bible, the earth has a beginning point in time and will have an ending point in time. Revelation 21:1 (KJV) “And I saw a new heaven and the first earth were
passed away; and there was no more sea.” Christ speaks of the beginning and the end in Revelation 22:13 (KJV) “I am Al’pha and O’me-ga, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” We do not know when the end of the earth shall come; one thing we know is that He will come quickly.
