Mark would have to have surgery to remove the tumor. Susan was someone who loved Jesus and knew the power of God. She turned to Him at this difficult time. Susan chose not to accept the hopeless news. She knew, in Jesus, there is always hope.
When Mark’s uncle, a man of faith, got the news he was very troubled. It seemed to him that there were some who were practically burying Mark before his time. He didn't like that. Like Susan, he also knew the power of God and declared, “I am not going to a funeral; I’m going to a healing!” There were many other Christians that came to visit Mark and prayed for him—declaring the power of God. Many called family members in different states to stand with them in prayer.
Just as there were many people coming to pray for Mark, there were many doctors and technicians coming in and out of his room with discouraging things to say. As Susan was sitting in a chair, in his room, a technician came in. He asked her why she wasn't crying. She told him that she had cried, but she knew God was Almighty, and he could heal her son.
The day of the surgery Susan had a peace that could only come from God. She believed Mark was going to be alright. After the surgery the doctor came in with the news, “We were able to get most of it, but we had to leave 2% because it was on his brain stem. If we had tried to remove it, he could have been paralyzed or even died. We will need to do an MRI on Monday to determine where to direct the radiation.”
Susan prayed that there would be no part of the tumor left when they did the MRI. Many others agreed with her in that prayer, standing on the words of Jesus in Matthew 18:19, “Again I say to you that If two of you agree on earth concerning anything they ask, it will done for them by My Father in heaven.” (NKJV)
Monday came, and it was time for the MRI. This faithful mother stood on God’s Word knowing she could ask anything of Him. It was a long wait to get the results, but when they came, Bob, Susan and many friends and family thanked the Lord for this wonderful miracle. There was no tumor! There would be no radiation. Susan knew that the Lord had reached down and healed her son.
