“Quite wide. Wide enough for many travelers, just as he said it would be.”
“And there are many travelers walking it.”
“Yes, and look at the packs upon their backs.”
“They appear to be quite heavy, don’t they?”
“Yes, indeed.”
“This highway is curvy and it’s uncertain what is beyond the bend.”
“Yes, it’s hard to tell which way one is going.”
“Good thing one has the sun for a guide.”
“But one must look up.”
“Yes, one must look up.”
“It’s incredibly noisy on this highway, is it not?”
“Yes, he said it would be noisy.”
“He said it would be busy too.”
“Yes, busy too.”
“The road back home is narrower.”
“Yes, and it is straighter too.”
“There is no confusion walking about there, it is peaceful.”
“It appears that the narrower road doesn’t have as many travelers.”
“It appears.”
“We were sent out here to tell them to come in to his house to eat.”
“Yes, and also sent out here to warn them about the dangers that lie ahead on this highway.”
“Some will not believe us.”
“Some won’t, but we must tell them anyway.”
“What is the name of this highway?”
“Let us stop this traveler and ask him the name.”
“Excuse us sir, what is the name of this highway?”
“Why the name of this highway is Broad Way, everyone knows that.”
“Why are there so many travelers here?”
“It is the in road, that’s why. Everyone who is anyone is traveling down this road.”
“Our master is not.”
“Where are your packs?”
“Our master carries them for us.”
“Who is your master?"
“He sent us out to invite all of these to come in to his supper.”
“What kind of supper?”
“A great supper.”
“How much does this great supper cost?”
“It is free.”
“Why wouldn’t your master charge us?”
“He is a good man, and he has plenty to go around.”
“Some that he invited already did not want to come. Some of the reasons we were given were that one had just purchased some land and needed to attend to it, another had just bought a car and wanted to try it out, and another had just gotten married and was off to his honeymoon.”
“These excuses sound reasonable to me.”
“These excuses sounded reasonable to them.”
“And your master, what does he think?”
“After these turned down the free supper, our master went out and invited the, maimed, the halt and the blind to come in and dine.”
“Did they accept?”
“Yes, they were all very excited about the free invitation and they came in, but there is still plenty of room at his table.
“Our Master wants his house full.”
“It would be a very good thing if you would come in and dine too.”
