The room is packed full, the audience all seated and the curtains ready to be drawn.
The show is about to begin, for the Grand Puppeteer is in town.
His name speaks for itself. He is the best of the best and always leaves HIS audience in awe.
He owns His job and knows just what He is about. To entertain and carry along His message is His goal.
He knows His audience and is always ready to address their need and a give them great satisfaction. He entertains in grand style, doing tricks that other puppeteers could only dream about. He loves His stage because it is a place for Him to show off His skill.
He is pleased especially when everything he accomplishes is seen on the faces of the audience. Faces filled with smiles and laughter always tell of the greatness of the puppeteer. He truly is grand because no one seems to have enough of him when they get into contact with him.
Now again, He is in town and the show is set to begin. The curtains are drawn and He makes His appearance by showing off His two favourite puppets.
He loves those two stringed puppets, You and Me, He named them.
Not sure why He loved them because they were not always the best.
There were days when He had great shows and was extremely pleased with His two favourite puppets. Yet with the same puppets, there were other days when His shows weren’t that great not by the judgment of His audience but by His Judgement. He wasn’t named grand for no reason because no matter how the show turned out, He always worked out His way and wowed His audience. His reputation was therefor never tainted.
On this faithful evening, the show had started smoothly, with the audience already captivated and glued to their seats. But everything quickly went off the rails as His puppets decided to run the show and tell the story their way. They wanted to move at a different pace and in different directions in a bid to force the hands of the puppeteer to move along with their wants and desires, thus making Him the puppet.
Obviously, this was not pleasing to the puppeteer who was having His story almost ruined by the two puppets. But like He always does, He worked His way around and finished the story. Certainly, not the way He had wanted but He always did His magic. He is the grand Puppeteer after all.
At the end of the show, the puppets thought they had entertained their audience and given them just what they needed. The audience were entertained alright but not based on the puppeteer’s original story which is what He defined His kind of entertainment by. His story said His way to His pleasure is His mission and desire.
The curtains closed, and left behind the stage was the puppeteer and His puppets whom He knew were out of shape, very confused and needed to be fixed. And He knew just how to fix them. He needed to give them a few doses of truth. So, He sat them down on a shelf and began to speak these words to them.
You and Me have it twisted again, He said. This is not your stage, you are not here to tell your story and you don’t even have an audience. They are mine. Its my story to tell and my audience to entertain. I show up to accomplish a goal, my way not your way.
Always remember, when the stage is cleared and the curtains drawn to the sides, all you do is to show up and allow me run the show. You did not invite me into your story, I am the storyteller, you are privileged to be in my story.
At the end of the show, I will be pleased with you because you have presented yourselves as objects to be used to have the puppeteer magnified and pleased with an accomplished mission.
I will always be the grand puppeteer. Always with a story, a show, a stage and an audience. I pick out and use puppets who are willing to be moved by my hands and not those trying to have my hands moved to their pleasure.
You and Me are part of a story that draws people to the puppeteer because His story brings immeasurable joy.

We are certainly here to do God's bidding. Perhaps the fact that we do it out of love for Him could be woven more into the story.
